i'm really excited today because not only am i finished with the first model for my jewelry line, but i have started on a matching ring! it is coming along quickly and beautifully. rings are sort of my forte. i have made so many in the past that even after 4 1/2 years, it's like second nature to me. (thanks to my amazing teacher who made sure i'd never forget a thing he taught me!)
the bangle will be sent out for casting in the next few days. unfortunately, i don't have that type of set-up here in my little apartment so i do have to pay for outside help beyond the model making realm. i can say that i'm a little nervous to let my 70 hours of work leave my hands. but i'm sure everything will be fine and in a few weeks time i'll be posting pics of the finished (and sellable) product right here on this little blog!
anyway, here's a photo of the finished model...
a little sneak peek of the ring in progress!

that's all for now!
Okay, I ADORE the bracelet and got all excited to hear you are working on a ring! I cannot wait to see the final product ~ you are crazy talented!
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is so cute! That skirt looks smashing on you and I can totally see how it could be VERY versatile/seasonless. Great choice!
Looking forward to the next post.
Gorgeous color and pattern on your jewelry, Aimee - you are so talented!
ReplyDeleteKatie - you seriously made me cry! i'm so critical of my work and was so nervous to post the finished model. i've never really put myself out there like this before and the positive feedback just completely made my day. THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteLisa - thank you! i am so appreciative of youre thoughts. the green stuff is actully just jewelry carving wax. this is a model that i made/sculpted and it will be cast into sterling silver. then a mold will be made so it can be reproduced :)

ReplyDeleteWow, how impressive! This is fantastic Aimee. I'm so in awe on your skills! What is the jewellery made of - resin? Anyway, all the best with the casting!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing Aimee. You should be so proud!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit too!
Jen - thank you! right now it's made of jewelry carving wax. it will essentially be put into a flask that plaster will be poured over, then put into a kiln. the plaster will harden and the wax will melt/evaporate out creating a negative space of where the wax model once was. from there, molten sterling silver will be shot into the plaster mold. you then quench the plaster in a bucket of water, and take the metal piece out (which will be the bangle). :) it's a pretty neat process to witness!
ReplyDeleteAshlee - thank you! it means the world to me that you like it. i can't wait to show you when it's finished!!!
Um, I totally hope you post pictures of your final products because this sneak peek is AMAZING! I love the detail and I would LOVE to see the matching ring! Wow!
ReplyDeletePamela - that means so much to me! i worked about 70 hours on that bangle, so hearing compliments like yours makes all those long night seem worth it. the ring is coming along pretty quickly - much faster than the bangle. i'm about 1/3 of the way done, so it's a possibility that you will be able to see that VERY soon!
ReplyDeleteAimee, this is awesome!!! How exciting! It looks absolutely amazing - I can't wait to see the final product! I enjoy dabbling in jewelry making from time to time, but have never done or seen anything this complex. I am so impressed!
ReplyDeleteErin - Thank you times 8384384238!!! I would LOVE to see your jewelry! It's so neat to find other people who enjoy doing the same thing that I'm so passionate about and seeing all the different styles that each artist puts into their work.
ReplyDeleteI am totally in awe of your talent lady! I'm so happy you are getting to pursue the passion and share it with the rest of us. Definitely, excited to see more from you. Plus, you look so darn lovely. Glad to have sharing the new venture with us.
ReplyDeleteCat - I'm so glad that I got enough courage to post pictures of this to begin with. I usually don't let anyone see something unless it's completely finished and I'm extremely happy with it. Still a bit nervous about the amount of work that's going to be left once it's cast because a lot can still go wrong and I'm hoping it doesn't! I'm going to try my best to make it look as good as it does in my head so I don't disappoint anyone. The extra pressure of others expecting to see something completed is actually really helping me keep my head in the game right now. So thank you!!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely, I adore your outfit Aimee! And how cool that you make jewelry, I took a peek at previous posts and really really liked the rings!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!
ReplyDeletewow, this is amazing! can not believe it's handmade. great job!
