knit. ring 001

hello readers!  i'm really excited today because i get to reveal the first piece of my collection, the knit. ring 001!  i still have a bit more work left on the bangle, but should be able to get photos up within the next week if all goes well.  bear with me, as it has been a very long time since i've done this and i have two very young children who need their mama during the day :)

do you want to see the ring though?  well, okay...  but only because i've had you waiting for approximately 2 months!

sterling silver.
size 7.
made to order.
allow 4-6 weeks (as i don't have the ability to do casting in my apartment).
price available upon request.

the magic of handmade jewelry is that even though multiples will be made, no two will ever be exactly the same.  there are no machines popping these pieces out and all of the wax carving was done by hand (by me!)  no, they might not be absolutley perfect the way a CAD designer could do, but that's the point.  my desire is to create something that allows the wearer to feel the heart that goes into it.

i hope you all have a wonderful friday!

  4. Erin - i am so flattered! i still have a lot of learning to do, but am very pleased with how it came out. thank you for the encouragement!

Lisa - thank you so much. i am so blessed to have had such an amazing teacher. i really cannot say enough good things about him and really owe my skills to him :)

Carol - a lot of people go to school and get degreees for this sort of thing. i don't. i did a short apprenticeship under an amazing master who was so patient with me and taught me everything i know at this point. one thing i know is that you have to have a steady hand and know how to deal with a lot of stress and disappointment. i'm still working on the sress part. ;)

  6. Katie - i am far too critical of myself, so it usually takes a while for me to get to the point where i am in awe of my work. when i first began my apprenticeship 7 years ago, i was much less hard on myself and found was always amazed by little things (like being able to use a hand saw). now it takes a lot more. but i have to say, i am really excited to see my designs in their completed states! now i get to move on to another!
